Plans have been approved for more than two hundred homes to be built on a historic part of Essex. Last November, Colchester City Council refused the application to develop a former army garrison site, which is situated near Britian's only known Roman chariot racing track.

However, the Planning Inspector has now said the proposed redevelopment can go ahead.
