The gin made in a cathedral
The Cloister Garden Gin is brewed by Ludlow Distillery, using botanicals grown at Hereford Cathedral. The gin infuses bay, fig leaves and mulberry, alongside rose geranium, cassia, sweet oranges, plus the warmth of frankincense and myrrh.
Shaun Ward from Ludlow Distillery tells Elliott Webb how he's spent years at the cathedral grounds, as husband to Hereford's assistant director of music Peter Dyke, developing the gin and also a whiskey.
The Herefordshire Royal Cider Cask, a single malt, which has been finished in the casks of Tom Oliver's Royal Cider.
The Very Reverend Sarah Brown, Dean of Hereford, adds that both spirits have passed the taste test amongst cathedral staff.
