Crosby鈥檚 Coastal Reinforcement

WWII rubble moved back to Blitz Beach as part of Sefton鈥檚 coastal defence work

Now, if you know and like your history, you might know that Liverpool was reportedly the most heavily bombed city outside of London during World War Two.

And, of course, with that comes rubble, and lots of it!

Well, hundreds of tons of that rubble were scattered over the sands of Crosby, but not in way of littering but in a move to fight coastal erosion.

Now Sefton Council has moved about 400 tons from the beach and returned it to the so-called 'Blitz Beach' north of Hall Road in Blundellsands to further bolster coastal defences.

麻豆社's Tony Snell spoke with Andy Martin, a Risk Management Officer for Flood and Coast Erosion to find out more.
