The funeral fundraiser for a Worksop teen who is actually alive
South Yorkshire Police said Trevor Wynn, 17, had died in a crash in Rotherham on December 13th. However, it was another passenger, Joshua Johnson, 18, who had died alongside a 17-year-old girl who was driving.
The error was discovered after Trevor regained consciousness.
Trevor's family had been preparing for his funeral and Jonathan Stoner, who owns a gym in Worksop, organised a charity boxing event to help cover the expenses. He joined Summaya to share his story.
A coroner's court earlier this week heard that the teenagers were misidentified by police through visual checks as no forensic tests were initially carried out.
South Yorkshire Police has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, who are investigating.
