Cafe owner Nevio Pelicci: ‘I just love Bethnal Green’
The owner of the famous E Pelicci cafe explains why he’ll never leave the East End.
When the Pelicci family came to England from Italy in 1900 and opened a cafe in their name on the Bethnal Green Road, they can’t have dreamed it would still be going 125 years later.
Nev, the 3rd generation of the Pelicci dynasty, has worked in the cafe since he was 10. In his lifetime he’s seen the area change enormously, but the cafe and its famous interior, has remained unchanged.
This interview was recorded more than 5 years ago now, and since then, thanks to Tik Tok and Instragram, Pelicci’s has gone viral and is more popular than ever. So much so that Nev and his sister Anna have started broadcasting themselves on their podcast ‘Down the Caff’.
