Exiled Ayatollah Khomeini's return to Iran in 1979
In 1979, Ayatollah Khomeini returned from exile to lead the Islamic revolution in Iran, after Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi left the country.
More than four decades later, the system born from that revolution still rules - with calls for the return of the exiled son of the former shah.
