Leicester Town Hall: 150 years of stories

The well-known and lesser-known sides of Leicester鈥檚 civic history

The Guild Hall used to be the city鈥檚 Town Hall, but during the 1800s the city began to outgrow it. An old cattle market was cleared for a new ambitious new building off Horsefair Street. It was opened on the 7th August 1876. Since then, it鈥檚 seen action as Leicester Crown Court, a seat of local government, and even been the target of an unexploded bomb in World War 2.

City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby gave 麻豆社 Leicester鈥檚 Ady Dayman a guided tour.
