When Brian Firth learned that a man had died in a supermarket car park near his home, he wondered whether a nearby public defibrillator could have made the difference. At the time, there wasn't a single community defibrillator within seven miles.

Determined to change that, Brian raised funds for one device, then went much further. Through Public Access Defibrillators UK, he built a network of volunteers, trainers and guardians, helping install lifesaving equipment across West Yorkshire and changing attitudes towards public access defibrillators. He spoke to Â鶹Éç Look North's Amy Garcia about his campaign and how he is now nominated for a Â鶹Éç Radio Leeds, Make a Difference Award for his work.
