In this interview, Rui Pires speaks with Emily Rocha, a Portuguese singer and songwriter originally from Raminho, on Terceira Island in the Azores, who has spent most of her life in California.

Emily talks about her journey from the Azores to the United States, her life within the Portuguese community in California and her passion for music. She has written more than 100 original songs, many inspired by personal experiences, family, emigration, faith and everyday life.

She also shares some of the challenges she has faced throughout her life, her strong connection to her Azorean roots, and how music has become an important way of telling her own story and preserving her Portuguese identity abroad.
