Some of cinema’s most influential films have reached British audiences thanks to a family-run company, based for decades in London's Soho.
Contemporary Films, founded by Charles Cooper in 1951, helped introduce UK cinemagoers to directors including Ingmar Bergman, Bernardo Bertolucci and Satyajit Ray, and distributed Mike Leigh’s 1971 debut feature, ‘Bleak Moments’.
It's now celebrating its 75th anniversary. and Tom Brook looks back at its pioneering place in British cinema history.
