The Pioneers: Jimmy Axcell
Celebrating the life of one of Southend United's first players, Jimmy Axcell.
On 26th September 2026, Southend United gathered the relatives of the Blues' first-ever team, dating back to 1906.
Jon Axcell, great-grandson of Jimmy Axcell, said he was 'very proud' to be part of the day and reflected on his great-grandfather's first ever contract with the club, which is on display in the museum.
