Niger: Mohamed Bazoum confirmed as new president

Niger鈥檚 constitutional court has confirmed Mohamed Bazoum as the winning candidate in the country鈥檚 presidential election. He succeeds Mahamadou Issoufou, who stepped down after serving two terms in office. Despite the peaceful handover of power, parts of the country are suffering from a wave of militant violence, with 22 killed this weekend alone.
