Mozambique: Army retakes Palma from militants
Reports and analysis of the day's political, economic and sports news from across Africa.
In Mozambique, the military now says it has retaken full control of the town of Palma in Cabo Delgado. Thousands of people fled the area after heavily armed militants descended on the town, with thousands taking refuge in the provincial capital Pemba.
Plus, a number of inmates managed to escape from a prison in Owerri in Nigeria鈥檚 Imo State, after armed men stormed the town鈥檚 administrative district. A police source has told the 麻豆社 that the attack was carried out by over a hundred gunmen.
And in Cameroon, tributes are being paid to Cardinal Christian Tumi, who died on Good Friday. He was a harsh critic of the government, and a leading voice for inter-religious dialogue.
