Several buildings at the University of Cape Town, including its library, have been damaged following the spread of a wildfire around Table Mountain. Around two-hundred-and-fifty firefighters have been battling the blaze, which has been fanned by strong winds.

In Chad the army says it has destroyed a rebel convoy that was heading towards the capital city N'Djamena. But residents there are worried.
