Professor Abdi Samatar says Somali President Farmajo鈥檚 decision to extend his term by two years was an 鈥渋llegal attempt to hijack the constitutional process鈥. President Farmajo revised that decision last week, and there has been heavy fighting in the country in recent days.

Plus, it鈥檚 World Press Freedom Day, with this year鈥檚 theme being "information as a public good". We look at the state of media freedom in several African countries.

And in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the authorities have declared the end of the most recent Ebola outbreak, which affected North Kivu province.
