Kenyan community poisoned by lead still waiting for compensation
A community that was awarded a 12 million dollar compensation after suffering poisoning by lead is still to receive the money, following appeals from the Kenyan government.
Last year a judge in Kenya awarded a 12 million dollar compensation settlement to a community that suffered lead poisoning which originated from a smelting plant that recycled batteries. The Kenyan government is still appealing the case and more than a decade after the poisoning was discovered, the victims have still received no compensation.
