Cautious calm returns after violent protests in Sierra Leone

Several people including police officers are amongst the dead, following violent protests in Sierra Leone yesterday.

The authorities in Sierra Leone extend curfew after violent protests erupted yesterday in Freetown and at least two towns in the north of the country known to be opposition strongholds. A cautious calm has returned today with some shops opening. Several people including police officers have died.

Also, Security forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo are searching for more than 800 prisoners set free by armed rebels.
