Chad's military ruler General Déby extends stay in power
Chad's military ruler Gen Mahamat Déby has been sworn in as the transitional president, extending his stay in power by two years.
The vice-leader of Chad's opposition group, Les Transformateurs, Dr Ndolembai Njesada, has called the inauguration of General Mahamat Déby as the transitional president a "regression in democracy" and says opposition groups will form "a parallel government" if the military ruler does not meet an ultimatum to step aside.
Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered a review of safety measures in the country’s water transport system following a boat accident in which dozens of people, attempting to escape flooding in their communities, were killed.
And Nigerian Afrobeats superstar CKay has released his first studio album, which he hopes will build on the success of his smash hit Love Nwantiti.
