Ethiopian troops seize strategic city in Tigray
There is growing alarm over the civil war in Ethiopia, as the Ethiopian military take three towns from Tigrayan control.
Ethiopian authorities say they have taken control of three towns in Tigray, including the strategic city of Shire. Diplomats are warning of a civilian bloodbath if more TPLF forces are pushed out of other towns and cities.
Zimbabwe has launched a programme to engage with families impacted by the 1980s military operation dubbed Gukurahundi - that mainly targeted opposition strongholds - and left an estimated 5000 people dead. It is the first time that the genocide is being officially recognised by government.
