Cyril Ramaphosa re-elected leader of ruling ANC party
His win comes after a damaging report accusing him of misconduct over a theft at his game farm.
South Africa’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, has been re-elected as leader of the governing ANC. He received nearly 2,500 votes despite recent allegations of misconduct in a parliamentary report, which investigated a theft at his game farm.
A UK court has ruled that the government’s plan to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda is lawful – after it was challenged in court. The policy was first introduced in April 2022, but it is yet to be implemented due to legal challenges.
There has been an outbreak of cholera in Nigeria’s southern Cross River state. At least 20 people have died and 30 others have hospitalised so far.
And several deals have been struck at this year’s COP15 to protect Africa’s biodiversity.
