Kenya鈥檚 government has begun an aerial spraying campaign to cull quelea birds, but environmental activists fear it may impact other wildlife. As many as six million of the birds have invaded the rice paddies in Kisumu, destroying hundreds of acres of farmland.
Plus, Somalia鈥檚 government has denied claims made by the militant group al-Shabab, that it killed almost 160 army soldiers in its latest attack on a military base. The authorities say seven troops and at least a hundred militants were killed.
And a South African court will rule on whether 140,000 Zambians can bring a class action lawsuit against Anglo-American, over lead poisoning allegations the mining company denies.
