Alarm over snail species causing havoc in Kenya rice farms
Kenyan scientists say the exotic snail species is decimating rice paddies and is also a health risk to humans.
Kenyan scientists raise the alarm over a species of snail that is not only devastating rice crops, but can also cause a strain of meningitis in humans. Dr. Martin Mutuku, principal investigator at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri), tells us more about the origin of the species and the dangers it poses.
