US analyst warns Sudan mediation unlikely

Cameron Hudson, senior associate in the Africa programme at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, (CSIS), says Sudan is "unlikely to reach a mediated solution".

As the Sudan conflict continues to displace hundreds of thousands we speak to top security analyst, Cameron Hudson who explains why there is no easy route to peace in the country.

The French public radio service, RFI, has reported that two Chadian rebel groups appeared in the Central African Republic near the two countries' common border. The Chadian transitional government has recently set up a military base in Gore, near the border with the CAR, following attacks attributed to these rebel groups, according to RFI.

And the Amazigh New Year has become an official holiday in Morocco, proclaimed by King Mohammed VI, in the latest acknowledgement of the indigenous group that has campaigned for years to have their calendar recognised.
