A 27 year jail sentence for former President of Brazil

The Supreme Court found him guilty of attempting a coup after he lost the 2022 election.

The right-wing former president, Jair Bolsonaro, has been sentenced to more than 27 years in prison in a trial that had been closely followed in the country, in the US, and elesewhere. The Supreme Court found him guilty of attempting a coup after he lost the 2022 election to his left-wing rival and current head of government, Luiz In谩cio Lula da Silva.

President Trump has called for a peaceful response to the murder of his ally, Charlie Kirk, a right-wing youth leader and activist shot dead in Utah on Wednesday. On Thursday the FBI offered a reward of one hundred thousand dollars for information that could lead to the arrest of anyone involved in the killing. They鈥檝e released photos of the college-age suspected gunman, who is still on the run.

We go to South Sudan where the first vice president Riek Machar has been charged with murder, treason and crimes against humanity for his alleged involvement in attacks by an ethnic militia against federal forces in March.
