US ramps up military pressure on Venezuela
The US has been increasing its military presence in the Caribbean, sending warships, a nuclear submarine and F-35 aircraft
The United States is increasing pressure on the Venezuelan government, deploying the world鈥檚 largest warship toward the Caribbean in a major escalation of its military presence in the region.
Also in today鈥檚 programme: Western powers, led by the US, are intensifying efforts to push Russia toward ending its war in Ukraine. Earlier this week, Washington announced sweeping new sanctions targeting Russia鈥檚 two biggest oil companies to force Moscow to the negotiating table. And in a remarkable medical story, a woman with Parkinson鈥檚 disease played the clarinet during her brain surgery. We鈥檒l hear from the patient, Denise Bacon, and her neurosurgeon, Professor Keyoumars Ashkan.
