Why did US launch strikes in Nigeria?

President Donald Trump said the Christmas Day strikes were "powerful and deadly".

The US has launched strikes against militants linked to the Islamic State group (IS) in north-western Nigeria, where militants have sought to establish a foothold. Nigeria has denied Donald Trump's assertion that the strikes were to do with religion. We get reaction from Nigerians and explain the story with our regional experts.
