After 17 years of conflict, Afghanistan remains a divided country. Recently President Trump ordered a major effort to improve the offensive capacity of Afghan Forces, backed by US airstrikes. But it remains to be seen if this will bring the Taliban to the negotiating table. The 麻豆社鈥檚 South Asia correspondent, Justin Rowlatt, has been speaking to General John Nicholson, the commander of US and Nato forces in Afghanistan. In a rare interview, General Nicholson talks about his hopes for Afghanistan and discusses whether peace in this fractured nation will ever be possible.
