The Gaud铆 Code
How Spain鈥檚 Sagrada Fam铆lia went global
Millions flock to Spain鈥檚 Sagrada Fam铆lia to marvel at its towering tree-like columns, remarkable displays of light and ornate stonework.
One hundred years after the master architect Antoni Gaud铆鈥檚 death, Spanish journalist Llu铆s Amiguet explores why so many people 鈥 regardless of faith 鈥 come to visit a Barcelona church that is still far from finished.
Amiguet hears how Gaud铆 was inspired by what he called 鈥淭he Great Book Of Nature鈥 and learns how this might have been of particular interest to visitors from Japan who were among the first to come and see Gaud铆鈥檚 work.
He meets Japanese architect Hiroya Tanaka who believes there are secret codes hidden within Gaudi鈥檚 plans, talks to 脪scar Tusquets who organised a petition for work to stop on the church before suddenly changing his mind and he tours the towers of the world鈥檚 tallest church.
