Aonishiki Arata's rise through the ranks of Sumo wrestling has been meteoric, but despite his name, Aonishiki is Ukrainian. Born Danylo Yavhusishyn in Vinnytsia, Ukraine, he took up Sumo at the age of seven and finished third in the Junior World Sumo Championships in Osaka in 2019. After the Russian invasion in 2022 he fled his home country and last month won the Emperor's Cup tournament in Japan. He's just 21 years old, and that win catapults him to Ozeki level - sumo's second highest rank. Mobeen met him in London in October 2025.

Londoner Khadijah Mellah was a teenager who had only been riding for four months when she became the first Muslim woman to win a prestigious British horse race. Despite being the youngest competitor, she rode to victory in the 2019 Magnolia Cup at the world-famous Goodwood Racecourse. She told Emily Webb about her breakthrough the following year.

Growing up during China's Cultural Revolution, Guo Pei didn't know what fashion was. As a child, she wasn't allowed to wear anything but a blue or green uniform. Today, she's China's most famous fashion designer, and some of her embroidered couture creations are worth millions. Guo dressed Rihanna for the Met Ball in 2015 in a spectacular and richly-embellished yellow outfit. She spoke to Saskia Collette in 2019.

Asha Puthli's vocals can be heard on influential jazz-fusion and disco tracks from the 1970s, and in samples and remixes from some of the world biggest hip-hop artists.Though when she started out in Mumbai clubs, she sang with her back to the audience to avoid being recognised and alerting her parents.
