Samba Stars

Carnival hit Carlisle as St. Albans' Friendly Fires brought the funk and liquid elbow dancing to the summer's biggest free festival.

The trio, who collected widespread praise and a Mercury Prize nomination for their self-titled debut album, are set to return with follow-up Pala, promised to live up to their impressive live reputation at Big Weekend 11.

I have to say that I am really dissapointed with the sound quality of this video. Poor Friendly Fires, the Â鶹Éç have not done them justice at all. They are a truely brilliant band, but you wouldn't know it from this video. Dreadful work Â鶹Éç.

If you'd left the video running for one more second you would've seen me catch the Maraca that was thrown at the end. Great show!
