Constable Portraits: The Painter and His Circle
The first exhibition to explore John Constable’s life and art through his portraits is at the National Portrait Gallery from 5 March till 14 June 2009. It contains nearly 50 works including oil portraits, watercolours and sketches. This exhibition features rediscovered and previously unseen portraits co-curated by writer and critic, Martin Gayford and Anne Lyles, a leading authority on the art of John Constable.
