When聽 Father Peter Needham arrived 2 years ago in Grimethorpe to take over the neglected parish church of St Lukes he was shocked to find that 50% of his parishioners were out聽of work and that聽the聽average household income was just 拢8,000.
Father Peter didn't waste any time聽setting things in motion and聽got the ball rolling with a fund聽in which he hoped they would eventually raise 拢1.5 million - the amount they needed to redevelop the church, create a village hall and bring back their community's self-respect.
