Claim to Fame Game
Pat Martin e-mailed us with this simple but satisfying reversal of the Brush with Fame idea which has been running in recent weeks...
"I have to admit that seeing George Harrison on a bus is a pretty impressive
claim to fame. 'Claims to Fame' is a game that we play regularly but one of
the rules is that the further down the chain you are from the famous person
the more points you get, e.g. my husband got more points for his friend having
stood next to Bert Weedon's cousin in a bus queue than he did for having
watched the Coronation on Wilfred Pickles' mother's television. I got more
points for knowing a woman who knew the woman who made Lady Elgar's corsets
than I did for getting a lift home one Saturday night in the back of Wayne
Fontana and the Mindbenders' van. Get the drift. Hours of harmless fun can be
had in this way."
How long can you make the chain between yourself and a well-known person? Tell us about your Claim to Fame in the Home Truths message boards...
