The Demise of the Nativity 13ÌýDec 2007
Are we taking the Christian element out of the festive season and is it causing more harm than good?

This week, the chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Trevor Phillips, said it was time to "stop being daft about Christmas".ÌýHis remarks follow growing concerns about the demise of the nativity play - apparently fewer schools than ever before are staging a traditional nativity.Ìý

So is Christmas being swept aside by a tide of political correctness? Or are schools simply taking a pragmatic approach to the lack of parts available in the traditional nativity and turning to scripts with more parts and more modern music? Journalist Katie Grant and Anna Behan, from the National Secular Society, join Jenni to discuss the issues.
