What reforms are needed to increase rape conviction?
Over three quarters of rape cases are never reported to the police, and less than 6% of those that are result in a conviction. One of the reasons given for this is the attitude of the police towards rape. Assistant Commissioner John Yates of the Metropolitan Police has recently criticised his colleagues, saying that officers too often fail to take alleged victims seriously enough.
