Ìý Missing Children Friday 5 April 2002 Ìý
The recent disappearance of Amanda Dowler, known has Milly has touched the nation's conscience. Police are currently investigating the theory that she may have run away with a boyfriend or somebody she met on an internet site.

According to Home Office estimates, more than 100 thousand children go missing every year . The vast majority return safetly, within 72 hours, but thousands are missing for weeks and even months.
Is there anything we, as a community can do to prevent young people from running away from home? Martha Kearney hears a teenage runaway's story and examines how it affected the whole family. She is also joined by Janet Newman, co-founder of the National Missing Persons Helpline to discuss what can be done to reduce the figures.
