If you'd wandered past Hampton Court Palace in the early 1900s, you might have been cajoled into buying a copy of the Suffragette magazine from a stately Indian woman, Sophia Duleep Singh.
She's one of a number of significant women included in a new book investigating the history of Asians in Britain.
Jenni talks to Rozina Visram about ayahs, lawyers and campaigners. Rozina Visram, Asians in Britain: 400 Years of History", Pluto Press, ISBN 0-7453 1378 7 Hardback, ISBN 0-7453 1373 6 Paperback
