 Billy Elliot the musical opens in London next week, following the success of the film
But there's evidence that enthusiasm for ballet tends to wane after age ten or eleven.
And despite the apparent enthusiasm for Billy, there are fewer and fewer young people joining British dance companies. So is ballet still relevant today, and if so, what's the best way to widen its appeal?
