<title>The Westerner, circa 1967: formerly owned by Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix wore the Westerner, one of several wide-brimmed black hats he owned, during a filming session at Bruce Fleming's photo studio in London. The session resulted in some of the most famous Hendrix film footage in existence, showing him playing an acoustic version of his blues song, 'Hear My Train A' Comin'', on a borrowed 12-string acoustic guitar. The footage appears in Joe Boyd's 1973 documentary, 'A Film About Jimi Hendrix'. Hendrix also wore the hat on the cover of his 1969 compilation, Smash Hits, and at a number of performances. <title>Orange velvet jacket, late 1967: formerly owned by Jimi Hendrix In 1967, Jimi Hendrix purchased several articles of clothing from the British designer and manufacturer Dandie Fashions, including this orange velvet jacket with floral print. Hendrix would typically add colourful scarves to increase the visual impact of his stage attire and with this already vibrant jacket he often wore a brightly hued shirt and orange-red trousers. Hendrix was photographed in this jacket during a December 1967 performance at City Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne, England, and again during a filming session at Bruce Fleming's photo studio in London. This session resulted in the now-famous film clip of Hendrix playing a 12-string acoustic guitar. The footage became part of 'A Film About Jimi Hendrix', director Joe Boyd's 1973 documentary.
