Years ago, living in Glasgow, I used to hear a song that went something like this:
"Come to the Ceiledh, come way me, dance to the music, merry merry music.
Come let us make the raffters ring, let's have a dear old highland fling..."

I have searched high and low for this music; we want to use it as an opening for a Ceiledh we're planning in Camlachie, Ontario in January 24, 2004

Can anybody help?

Desperate in Camlachie.

As a young boy I remember hearing Come to the Ceilidh being sung on Scottish Television.
I feel quite sure it was performed by Callum Kennedy, a popular Scottish star in those days. Good Luck in your search.

I am also looking for the words of "Come to the ceilidh" to sing it as part of the entertainment at a Caledonian Society ceilidh in Paris. I very vividly remember dancing round the room with the people of the Scots Kirk in Paris to this song many years past and I can still hear the tune in my mind. Good luck with your quest.

Cheers from Jacques

I have a copy of The Alexander Brothers recording. If you email your address I will send you a copy of the tape. Jim McLeod also recorded it and a friend of mine may have a copy, if so I will send it as well.

Regards
Adam Philip
