Loganair in Orkney
There is 1 message in this section.

Ron Young from Whitwell, Derbyshire. Posted 16 Oct 2006.
I've only flown with Loganair on an inter-island flight once. It was in the early 1970's when I was up on holiday in Orkney and wanted to visit Westray for the day to see Notland Castle so I booked a return ticket.

A few days previous I'd mentioned to Miss Bullard (Orkney Field Club secretary) about my plans and thought no more about it.

On the morning of the flight I was waiting in the airport when the pilot, who I later found out was Andy Alsop came in and announced the flight and also called out my name. As I was a single passenger I'd been allocated the seat by him!!!

All I will say is that it was a dream come true - taking a flight sat beside the pilot over your gorgeous islands.

I still wonder if Miss Bullard had had a word with Andy (also a member of the Field Club) and arranged for me to sit at the front!

The return flight via Papa Westray to Kirkwall was less eventful - I sat further back - but as the weather had deteriorated from wet (I got soaked on my walk down to Notland Castle and back) to downright miserable I still enjoyed my return.
