Yes. We’ve made some changes to how you access �鶹�� live radio.

You can listen to live �鶹�� radio by adding �鶹�� Sounds in the Sonos Controller app.

Can I use �鶹�� Sounds with my Sonos device?

We have released a version of �鶹�� Sounds on the Sonos platform, meaning you’ll be able to listen on your Sonos device via the Sonos S2 controller app.

This means that both iOS and Android users can now get a full, personalised �鶹�� Sounds experience on their Sonos speakers.

To enable �鶹�� Sounds on Sonos, open the Sonos app on your device, then:

Tap on 'Settings'
Tap on 'Services and Voice'
Scroll down to the bottom and tap on 'Add a service'
Scroll until you find �鶹�� Sounds and tap 'Add'
Connect your �鶹�� account with your Sonos account
That's it!

With the �鶹�� Sounds experience on Sonos, you can:

Listen live to all our radio stations, including all local stations in high quality streaming audio

Search for �鶹�� content using Sonos search
'Star' (favourite) certain elements so they appear on your My Sonos homescreen (for example, Listen Live, Continue Listening, Recommended For You)

You can also use Sonos on desktop by installing the Sonos desktop application. Choose 'Select a Music Source,' then 'Add Music Services' to find �鶹�� Sounds.

At the moment, �鶹�� Sounds is available on the Sonos controller app within the UK only.

If you are in the UK and unable to find the �鶹�� Sounds service on the Sonos app, your account may not be registered to the UK. You can find out how to check this on the Sonos Help Site.

What is Multi-Room?

Multi-Room allows you to play your favourite �鶹�� Sounds music, podcasts or radio stations on multiple Alexa-enabled devices at the same time with our Alexa skill. To find out more, have a look here: Amazon Multi-Room.

Please note, the �鶹�� is not responsible for content on third-party websites.

How do I set up and use Multi-Room?

You first need to set up speaker group/s in the Alexa app. For information and support on how to do this, have a look at the following page: Play Music with Multiple Alexa Devices.

Please note, we recommend using the default group names provided when setting up device and speaker groups.

Once you have set your speaker group/s up you can ask for any �鶹�� Sounds content to be played on the group, rather than a single device, for example:

‘Alexa, Ask �鶹�� Sounds to play Radio 4 on the Everywhere group’
‘Alexa, Ask �鶹�� Sounds to play Desert Island Discs in the Kitchen’
‘Alexa, Ask �鶹�� Sounds to play Focus Beats on the Study group’

You can now access �鶹�� local news from 39 stations across England, as well as the �鶹��’s national services for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales on your Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device.

Just say ‘Alexa’ or ‘OK Google’ followed by the relevant phrase below. Or simply say, “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds for local news” to your Alexa-enabled device. You can also listen and subscribe via �鶹�� Sounds by clicking the relevant link:

What is 'Send a Comment' and how do I use it?

'Send a Comment' allows you to send a comment directly to any �鶹�� radio station from your Alexa device.

Why should I use 'Send a Comment'?

'Send a Comment' allows you to connect with your favourite radio station and its presenters. Experience hands-free messaging without the need to reach for your phone or type on your keyboard. Join in on topical questions, polls and discussions with ease using your Alexa device.

How do I send a comment to the radio station?

To send a comment to the studio:

Step 1: Say “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to send a comment.”
- You will be asked to leave your name and comment for the radio station after a tone.
Step 2: Step 2: After you hear the tone, say your name and comment.
- The name and comment will be repeated back to you and you will be asked if you would like to send it.
Step 3: Say “Yes” if you’re happy to send the comment or “No” if you’re not.
- If you say “No” you will be asked to say your name and comment again. The name and comment will then be repeated back to you and you will be asked if you would like to send it.
Step 4: Alexa will then send your name and comment.
- Your name and comment is converted to text for the studio to view.
- You can cancel your name and comment at any time during the process by saying “Alexa, cancel.”

I am told that my �鶹�� account is not verified. What should I do?

You are only able to send comments via Alexa if the email address used to create your �鶹�� account has been verified.

Check your email inbox to find an email from bbcaccount@bbc.co.uk titled ‘Please verify your email address’. Click on the button: ‘Verify your email address.’ Once this is done you can retry sending a comment through your Alexa device.

If you are unable to find the email please check your spam folder. Always ensure that the email is from bbcaccount@bbc.co.uk to avoid any phishing scams.

I am receiving a message “This feature is not available for users in your age group”. What should I do?

Messages can only be sent to the station through �鶹�� accounts for users above the age of 16.

Do I have to be listening to the radio station at the time to send a comment?

You can send a comment into a live radio station at anytime whether you are listening to it or not. Just say “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to send a comment” if you’re already listening to the station, or “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to send a comment to [station name]” if you’re not listening to the station you want to send it to.

Can I use �鶹�� Sounds with my Apple Siri device?

�鶹�� Sounds is not currently available via voice commands on Apple HomePod or Apple TV.

However, if you have the �鶹�� Sounds app on an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch, you can use the AirPlay feature to stream �鶹�� Sounds to your Apple HomePod or Apple TV. This feature is not supported from an Android device.

�鶹�� Sounds listeners on iOS mobile devices running iOS version 12.2 or higher can use Siri shortcuts to access �鶹�� Sounds. You can create custom shortcuts to launch live radio via the Siri Shortcuts app.

How do I link my �鶹�� account to the �鶹�� Sounds skill on Alexa?

It’s quick and easy to sign into your �鶹�� account on Alexa. Follow this handy step by step guide for tips.

Before you start…

To listen to live radio and other �鶹�� Sounds content on Alexa you’ll need to be in the UK.
You will need to have the �鶹�� Sounds skill enabled on your Alexa device, and have a �鶹�� account (If you don’t have an account, you can register for a �鶹�� account here.
Make sure you’re using the correct Amazon profile that you want your �鶹�� account to be linked too.

How do I enable the �鶹�� Sounds skill?

Just say, “Alexa, open �鶹�� Sounds” to your Alexa device. Your device will then ask if you’d like to enable the skill - say yes to proceed. For more help with enabling the �鶹�� Sounds skill, visit this page: Can I use �鶹�� Sounds with my Alexa device?

Make sure you’re on the correct adult Amazon profile before connecting your �鶹�� account

To do this say ‘Alexa, Who am I?’ If you’re on the wrong account say ‘Alexa, switch account.’
If you are still being asked to sign in after linking and signing into your �鶹�� account, make sure you are on the correct Amazon household profile and that the profile is linked to your �鶹�� account. (Make sure the device is setup with your Amazon household profile).

There are four ways to link your �鶹�� account to the �鶹�� Sounds skill on Alexa:

Link your �鶹�� account using a notification on your phone.
Link your �鶹�� account using the QR code on your Echo device with a screen.
Link your �鶹�� account using the prompt on your Alexa app homescreen.
Link your �鶹�� account using the Alexa app skill page.

Link your �鶹�� account using a notification on your phone

Step 1
Open the skill on your Echo device by saying "Alexa, open �鶹�� Sounds." If you have notifications enabled from the Alexa app you will receive an account linking link to your device.

Step 2
Check your phone for a notification sent from Amazon Alexa. Tap this notification to be taken to the Alexa app.

Step 3
Tap ‘Continue’ to move onto the next step.

Step 4
Enter your email address and password for your �鶹�� account, then tap ‘Sign in’. If you don’t have a �鶹�� account, simply tap on the ‘Register now’ link and follow the steps to create one.

Step 1
Open the �鶹�� Sounds skill on your Echo by saying "Alexa, open �鶹�� Sounds". A QR code will appear.

Step 2
Open your phone’s camera and point it at your Echo’s screen. Then tap on the notification that appears. This will open the �鶹�� Sounds skill within the Alexa app.

Step 3
Tap on ‘Link Account’ then tap ‘Continue’ to move onto the next step.

Once your �鶹�� account is linked you can get the most out of your experience with the �鶹�� Sounds Skill.

To get started, say "Alexa, open �鶹�� Sounds." When prompted, ask for the name of the live radio station, programme, podcast or music mix that you want to listen to.

Live Radio

You can now restart, rewind and fast-forward radio shows on the �鶹�� Sounds Alexa skill.

The �鶹�� Sounds Alexa skill now gives you the ability to rewind and fast-forward radio, or restart the show you're listening to. �鶹�� Sounds is the only radio provider in the UK to offer this functionality.

How to play live radio

To start playing live radio say, "Alexa, play [live radio station]." For example, "Alexa, play 6 Music” or "Alexa, play Radio 2.”

How to find out what's playing on live radio

To find out what song or programme is currently playing on a live station say, "Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds what's playing."
If you're listening to a rewound stream, you can say "Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds what's playing" to find out the station and show you're currently listening to.

How to restart live radio

Love The Archers but missed the start on Radio 4? No problem, just say, “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to restart,” and we’ll take you to the start of the show.

How to rewind live radio

Listening to Radio 2 and missed Ten To The Top? “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to rewind to 10.30am.”
Asked for Radio 1 just as your favourite song is ending? “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to rewind 3 minutes.”
And if you’ve just missed a goal on 5 Live, “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to rewind” will rewind one minute.

How to fast-forward or return to live radio

You can fast-forward by using the corresponding requests, for example “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to fast-forward to 9.30pm / 5 minutes.”
And when you’re ready to listen live again, just say, “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to return to live.”

How to pause and resume live radio

You can also pause and resume live streams by saying "Alexa, pause" and "Alexa, resume."

What is 'Send a Comment'?

'Send a Comment' allows you to send a comment to any �鶹�� radio station from your Alexa device.

To send a comment to the �鶹�� radio station you’re listening to say, “Alexa, Ask �鶹�� Sounds to send a comment.”
To send a comment to a different �鶹�� radio station say, “Alexa, Ask �鶹�� Sounds to send a comment to [station name].”

How to play the first available episode of something

How to pause or resume a podcast or music mix

To pause or resume say, "Alexa, pause" or, "Alexa, resume."

How to fast-forward or rewind a podcast or music mix

To rewind or fast forward say, "Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to rewind 30 seconds," or "Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds to fast forward 5 minutes."

How to navigate between episodes

To navigate between episodes, just say "Alexa, next" or "Alexa, previous."

How to continue listening from where you left off

To continue listening from where you left off, just ask Alexa for the podcast or on-demand programme you were listening to previously, for example, "Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds for The Infinite Monkey Cage."
Likewise, if you've been listening to something on your Alexa device and want to pick up from where you left off on the �鶹�� Sounds app or website, just scroll to the Continue Listening section and click on the programme title.
If you're not listening to the last episode in a series, we'll play the next episode automatically when your episode ends.

How to stop what you're listening to

To stop playback, simply say "Alexa, stop."

To get our 24-hour interactive news service, say "Alexa, play �鶹�� News."
To get your local news bulletin personalised to the postcode in your �鶹�� account, say “Alexa, ask �鶹�� Sounds for my local news.”

How to use Multi-Room

'Multi-Room' playback using the �鶹�� Sounds skill is now possible. Multi-Room allows you to play your favourite �鶹�� Sounds music, podcasts or radio stations on multiple Alexa-enabled devices at the same time with our Alexa skill.

How do I set up an Alexa Routine?

Wake up with �鶹�� radio! Routines are a great way to fit �鶹�� content in with your daily activities. Wake up at the same time each day to your favourite radio station, catch up with the news at lunchtime, or hear the latest episode of your favourite podcast when you say a specific phrase.

How do I set up a routine?

Open the Amazon Alexa app
Tap More in the bottom-right corner
Tap Routines
Tap + in the top-right corner
Create a routine name
Add a routine trigger (the trigger can be a time, or something you say, etc.)
Tap Add action
Tap Customised
Enter what you would ask Alexa (e.g. "Play Radio 4," "Play �鶹�� News," "Play All Day Chill Mix")
Tap Next, then Save

You can use this method to set an alarm using �鶹�� content. Just select Schedule when adding the routine trigger.

When you’ve set up your �鶹�� routine, why not share it with someone? Open the routine, tap the three dots in the top-right corner and follow the steps to share.

Here are some pre-made �鶹�� routines for you to try:

[Direct link] At 7am on weekdays, play Radio 2
[Direct link] At sunrise on weekdays, play �鶹�� News
[Direct link] When I say, "I’m feeling festive," play some Christmas music
[Direct link] At 8am at the weekend, play Radio 4
[Direct link] At lunchtime, play my flash briefing, then some energising music
[Direct link] Wake up at 7.30am to happy music
[Direct link] When I ask Alexa to give me a laugh, play something funny
[Direct link] When I say "News and Tunes," play my flash briefing, then 6 Music

To use them:

Tap on the link from your mobile phone
When the Alexa app opens, tap View Routine
Confirm the actions when prompted
Customise it, if you want to
Select the device from which you want Alexa to respond, then tap Save

You’ll also be able to “Ask �鶹�� Sounds for my local news” and get local news bulletins personalised to the postcode in your �鶹�� account.
