As the Conservatives intensify their campaign to highlight what they describe as 'broken Britain', Phil Mackie travels to Birmingham to examine the reality on the ground. The government says it has been reducing unemployment and improving the lot of the country's poorest communities. The Tories, however, accuse the government of failing to tackle long-term unemployment and deliberately attempting to hide the true scale of the problem.
