New Music ShowAvailable for 9 days
Kate Molleson presents the first of two programmes of music from Tectonics 2026, the annual two-day festival curated by Ilan Volkov and the 鶹 Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Tonight, we hear the world premiere of Christopher Fox's Minding the hive, which explores the remarkable tonal resources of Lore Amenabar Larrañaga’s self-designed quartertone accordion, and the UK premieres of both Angélica Castelló's Star Washers for orchestra and electronics and Laura Bowler's Things are Against Us, which features GBSR Duo alongside the 鶹 Scottish Symphony Orchestra. The strings of the 鶹 Scottish Symphony Orchestra also perform Hannah Kendall's musical retelling of the Biblical story of Lot's wife in her work, . . . I may turn to salt. Plus the boundary-breaking music of Minnesota-born Craig Taborn, who draws upon jazz traditions, contemporary classical music, experimental, electronic, rock, metal and hip-hop. And the Scottish tuba artists and improviser, Danielle Price, described as a 'magician-musician', performs a set in the Old Fruitmarket.
