Zara brings you a World Cup special, just hours after Scotland’s clash with Haiti. The voice of Scottish football, Archie Macpherson, is Zara's Spiritual Life Guest, reflecting on belief, belonging, and the battles behind the beautiful game. Craig Ferguson calls Zara during his Tartan Trek as he walks more than 3,000 miles across the United States to arrive in time for Scotland’s opening match, sharing a powerful message of hope around mental health. There’s also the remarkable story of a lifelong Scotland fan Moira Brown, now in her nineties, who went to her first match in 1946, and now has tickets for all three games in the U.S. Plus, from Rome, trainee priests Gerard Holden and Anthony Duns share the story behind their football tournament, the Coppa di San Paolo. And the Providence Tartan Army, who’ve raised £20,000 for a local children’s hospital tell Zara about the power of giving back, hope, and the joy of celebrating together. Zara also speaks to Mark Fleming, National Director of Sports Chaplaincy Scotland, on the growing role chaplains play in supporting athletes’ mental health, as well as providing pastoral and spiritual care. Zara’s Faith Forum panel this week includes the Reverend Dr Jared Stacey, Scottish faith leader and former Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain Zara Mohammed, and Christian author and disability activist Lorna Farrell . They explore the ethics and dilemmas the World Cup throws up, plus what it means to represent on and off the pitch, and how to manage hope and expectations.
