A tribute to Clive Davis, a true music mogul, who has sadly passed away. Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston and Barry Manilow are all household names, not just in this country but around the world, and one record executive helped them on their way to stardom. His name is Clive Davis and in a career spanning over 50 years he helped to transform the music industry. Paul Gambaccini attempts to reveal how this magician has performed his tricks, or, at least, to tell the story of "The Last Record Man." The documentary features contributions from the man himself, plus Barry Manilow, Jennifer Hudson, Carlos Santana, Whitney Houston, Rolling Stone Contributing Editor Antony DeCurtis, record producer L A Reid, A&R man Peter Edge, and Associate Professor at NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Popular Music Jason King. There's music from Big Brother and the Holding Company to Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen to Earth, Wind & Fire, Santana to Barry Manilow, and Air Supply to Whitney Houston. First broadcast in 2011. Produced by Sue Clark Productions for 麻豆社 Radio 2.
