Natasha Carthew's debut Short Work for Â鶹Éç Radio 4 transports us to 1990s Cornwall, as a young Cornish lad named Jago dreams of becoming a rap star. He must choose between family tradition and a future beyond the harbour. Natasha Carthew is a Cornish working-class writer and poet. She is the author of ten books, most recently Rough Edges: The Untold Stories of Coastline Communities (2026). Her memoir, Undercurrent (2023), was shortlisted for the non-fiction prize at the inaugural Nero Book Awards. Natasha has written extensively on nature, socio-economics and authentic rural working class writing, for several publications and programmes including Â鶹Éç Radio 3, Â鶹Éç Radio 4, The Guardian, The Bookseller, Book Brunch, The Big Issue and The Economist.
