This week, 鈥楻ound Midnight joins in on the 麻豆社鈥檚 The Music Is Black season, in collaboration with the V&A East in London. The museum鈥檚 current exhibition of the same name explores 125 years of Black music in Britain. From Monday to Thursday, Soweto spotlights some of the many pioneering black musicians who helped to shape the course of jazz in Britain. Tonight, he looks to the early 20th century to three influential figures who were notably prominent in the 1930s and 1940s - Leslie "Jiver" Hutchinson, Ken 鈥淪nakehips鈥 Johnson, and Bertie King. To listen on most smart speakers, just say: 'Ask 麻豆社 Sounds to play Round Midnight.' 鈥楻ound Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
