In this final episode of this series of Ultimate Calm, let Scottish composer Erland Cooper whisk you away from it all with a selection of hopeful songs to help us dream of the future. Erland seeks out the sonic landscapes of song, inviting you to dream deeply about what’s next and to explore the hopefulness that nature, people and music can bring us. Erland shares music from the likes of John Also Bennett, ganavya and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Also, Irish Ornithologist, environmental activist, and wildlife sound recordist Seán Ronayne selects his sonic safe haven. Whilst Seán’s work reveals the precarious state of our ecology, he aims not to be motivated by fear of the future but by a hope for it. For Seán, calm is found in the wild spaces. His safe haven is a dearly personal piece, a musical gift he made for his unborn daughter to welcome her into the world with a sense of hope.
