A woman who says she was abused by her Imam from the age of seven to eleven is calling for all religious leaders to be the subject of tighter security checks. Nabila Sharma, who has to hide her real identity for fear of reprisal, wants CRB checking to be mandatory and monitored for compliance. She recently published a book about her experience and runs the ‘Dear Nabila problem page’ where she receives communications daily from Asian women who have faced abuse, or are worried about their children.
